A Fireside Dinner at The Stube

Eight courses by the fire, written each week from what the valley gives — and an aged Gruyère course that has never left the menu.

The Thermal Circuit at La Pierre

Steam cave, cold plunge, thermal pool and sauna — the full ritual, in the spa carved into the mountain’s granite.

Private Skiing with a Local Guide

A day on the mountain with a guide who grew up here — first lifts, quiet runs and the right table for lunch.

Dawn Snowshoe Above the Valley

Leave from the front door before sunrise and walk the larch forest as the first light reaches the peaks.

Wild mushrooms growing on a mossy forest log

Foraging with Our Botanist

Wild garlic in spring, chanterelles in autumn — walk the slopes with our botanist and bring the basket back to the kitchen.

Cheesemaker slicing a wheel of aged cheese

A Morning at the Cheese Cellar

Twelve minutes down the valley road, the Rey family has aged Gruyère in a hillside cellar for three generations.

Blue-lit indoor pool with rippling water
Outdoor cold-water tub overlooking a glacier valley
Condensation running down a steamed glass wall
Candlelit steam room carved from dark stone

The Thermal Circuit

Steam Cave

Start here. Carved from rough granite and held at about 45°C, the steam opens the pores and loosens the muscles — ten to fifteen minutes is enough.

Cold Plunge

Thirty to sixty seconds at 10–12°C, all year round. The contrast with the steam is the step most guests skip once — and never again.

Thermal Pool

Mineral water at 36°C, where most guests settle for twenty to thirty minutes beneath the granite vault.

Heated stone loungers and a single rule: no talking. Stay as long as you like.

Complimentary for hotel guests, daily 8:00 – 20:00. Treatments run 9:00 – 19:00 and can be booked at the front desk.

Guest Voices

“The quietest luxury we have ever known.”

“Alphaus gave us something we didn’t know travel could still give: mountain light, slow mornings and a dinner at the Stube we still talk about. Nothing has compared since.”

01

What is the best time of year to visit Alphaus?

Every season has its regulars. December to March brings skiing, snowshoe walks and long evenings by the fire; June to September brings meadow hikes and warm valley nights. January and the shoulder seasons are the quietest — and often our guests’ favourite.

02

Is breakfast included in the room rate?

Yes. Every stay includes breakfast, served 7:30 – 10:30 with bread from the village bakery, honey from the valley and eggs cooked to order. Breakfast in your room is available on request.

03

How do I reserve a table at The Stube?

Call +41 27 555 0148 or write to stay@alphaus.com. Hotel guests receive priority, and in winter we recommend booking before you arrive. Le Refuge Bar welcomes walk-ins.

04

Do you offer airport transfers from Geneva or Zurich?

Yes. We can arrange a private car from either airport, or meet you at Gstaad station if you travel by train — about two hours from Zurich or Geneva. Send us your arrival time and we’ll take care of the rest.

05

What spa facilities are available to hotel guests?

The thermal circuit at La Pierre — steam cave, cold plunge, 36°C mineral pool, larch sauna and relaxation room — is complimentary, daily 8:00 – 20:00. Treatments are booked separately.

06

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation is free up to 14 days before arrival. Within 14 days, one night is charged. Winter stays require 30 days’ notice.
