Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters to us as much as your stay. This policy explains what personal data Alphaus collects when you book, stay with us or visit our website, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
01. Who we are
Alphaus, Alpenstrasse 12, 3780 Gstaad, Switzerland, is responsible for the processing of your personal data described in this policy. We process data in line with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
For any question about your data, write to stay@alphaus.com or call +41 27 555 0148.
02. What we collect
Booking and stay details: your name, contact details, arrival and departure dates, room preferences, the names of travelling companions and any requests you share with us, such as dietary needs or celebrations.
Registration details: Swiss law requires us to record the identity document details of every guest on arrival.
Payment details: card payments are processed by our payment provider. We keep only what is needed to confirm and reconcile your payment, never your full card number.
Messages and newsletter: what you send us through our contact form or by email, and your email address if you subscribe to our letters.
Website use: basic technical data such as browser type, pages visited and approximate location, collected through cookies and similar tools.
03. How we use your data
We use your data to confirm and manage your reservation, prepare your room and the services you request, take payment, meet our legal obligations, answer your messages and, with your consent, send you news from the hotel. We also use aggregated website data to improve our pages.
We process your data because it is needed to fulfil our agreement with you, because the law requires it, because you have given consent, or because we have a legitimate interest in running and improving the hotel.
04. Who we share it with
We never sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary: with our payment provider, booking platforms you choose to reserve through, IT and email service providers working on our behalf, and the authorities where the law requires guest registration.
Some providers may process data outside Switzerland. When they do, we make sure your data stays protected by appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.
05. How long we keep it
We keep booking and accounting records for as long as Swiss law requires, usually ten years. Guest preferences are kept to make your next stay easier unless you ask us to delete them. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe, which you can do at any time from any letter.
Swiss law requires every guest to present a valid passport or identity card on arrival.
06. Cookies
Our website uses essential cookies to work properly and, with your consent, analytics cookies that help us understand how the site is used. You can change your cookie choices in your browser settings at any time.
07. Your rights
You may ask to see the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use, or receive a copy in a portable format. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
To exercise these rights, contact stay@alphaus.com. If you feel we have not handled your data properly, you may also contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or your local data protection authority.
08. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
09. Spa and activities
Use of the thermal circuit is reserved for guests aged 16 and over, and children are welcome in the pool at set family hours. Please tell our therapists about any health conditions before a treatment. Outdoor activities depend on weather and mountain conditions and may be moved or cancelled for your safety.
10. Liability
Guests are responsible for any damage they cause to the hotel and its furnishings. Valuables should be kept in the safe in your room; the hotel is liable for lost or damaged belongings only as provided by Swiss law.
11. Unforeseen events
If events beyond our control, such as avalanches, road closures or extreme weather, prevent us from honouring a reservation, we will offer to move your stay to new dates or refund any amounts paid.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by Swiss law. The place of jurisdiction is Saanen, Canton of Bern, Switzerland.
13. Questions
If anything here is unclear, write to stay@alphaus.com or call +41 27 555 0148. We are always glad to help.
